Queens Head Golf Society raises an amazing £2,175 for LOROS

Gallery

The Queens Head Golf Society was able to resume playing its annual charity fundraising day in aid of LOROS this year after the event was cancelled in 2020 because of the pandemic.

Apart from competing for the "Brian Tate Memorial Trophy", the society held a raffle (Jo Cook was once again a star in selling the tickets), held an auction (superbly conducted by Andy Watts), and received many donations. The golf event was won by Phil Johnstone. Everyone who attended and supported the event is thanked.

The photograph shows the society captain, Chris Leeming, handing a cheque for £2,175 to Debbie Dickman of the LOROS charity and takes their fundraising total to an amazing £14,628.66 since 2014.

Debbie said: "It was a pleasure to meet everyone and to accept their cheque on behalf of LOROS. It is great to see that events are starting to take place again in the community after such a difficult time.

Every penny raised helps us deliver free, high-quality, compassionate care and support to terminally ill patients, their family and carers and we are truly grateful for their continued donations."

Also pictured to Debbie's left are Phil and Dawn Jackson (landlord and landlady, who have provided both a home and great support for the society). Barrie Cross, founder member and the inaugural captain is standing to their left. To the rear is Dave Fitch, co-organiser and brother-in-law to the late Brian Tate. Fellow co-organiser, Bruce Scott, is also shown on the left.
