LOROS’ annual bike ride has been a longstanding popular challenge that brings people from all cycles of life together to support LOROS in their mission to provide free, compassionate care and support for terminally ill adult patients, their family and carers across Leicestershire and Rutland. Over the years many riders have raised thousands of pounds to go above and beyond for thousands of people.

We’re excited to bring back our 100-mile cycle route all the way around the glorious countryside of Leicestershire. Take in the stunning views, the local landmarks and sample delicious local produce along the way. A true celebration of Leicestershire! See the very best of what our stunning county has to offer, taste some of the best local delicacies and enjoy a beautiful day out in the fresh air.

Starting and finishing at the prestigious Café Ventoux in Tugby, you can expect the same level of support and camaraderie that you have come to know from LOROS’ annual bike ride. You will have our support every step (or pedal) of the way!

Whether you are a solo rider looking to add some extra miles to your training log, a beginner cyclist or a corporate group attempting your first big ride, our event has everything you are looking for. Whether you are super speedy or prefer to enjoy a leisurely ride taking in the hidden gems our gorgeous county has to offer; you will have the chance to stop and rest and meet with friends and family supporting along the route.

What do you need to know?

Entering the ride is FREE; all we ask in return is that you pledge to raise £100 per person for LOROS Hospice. So please do encourage family, friends and your wider audience to sponsor you in aid of LOROS. This is a completely not for profit event, where every penny goes towards caring for the patients in our care and supporting their families

  • The ride starts at 6:30am, from the famous Café Ventoux, Tugby, LE7 9WE. Arrival from 5:30am, with tea, coffee, toilets, bike racking all available at the start

  • Riders will be staggered off the start line between 6:30am-6:45am

  • The route will be a rolling, undulating ride approximately 100 miles in length. Those who have taken part in our previous Leicester to Skegness Ride, should be aware that it is likely to be significantly hillier, with approximately 4,500ft / 1300m of elevation.

  • Helmets are compulsory for all riders, and we highly recommend using a road bike for the event. If you are unsure if your bike is suitable, please contact us at fundraising@loros.co.uk

Need any other reasons to sign up?

  • You can find a full map of the route toward the bottom of this page, but you won't need it – our route will be fully sign-posted so that you can keep your eyes on the road and enjoy the gorgeous views. The route will also be available in gpx format, and on Garmin connect for those of you with cycle computers

  • Fully supported route with rest stops, support vehicles, and medics on hand

  • A fantastic start/finish point at the prestigious Café Ventoux in Tugby

  • Free refreshments and food available along the route and at the finish. Celebrating all things De-Leic-ous (see what we did there?)

  • A well-deserved souvenir for your efforts

  • Fantastic technical LOROS cycle jerseys available to purchase online or on the day (stocks limited on the day)
