Back in November, you may have seen a stand in the social area promoting 'National Safeguarding Adults Week'.
The Social Work team explain more about the stand:
"Our focus was on promoting the importance of Safeguarding Adults and the necessary steps to follow. We emphasised that Safeguarding involves taking responsibility for protecting vulnerable individuals' health, well-being, and human rights from abuse. It's crucial for everyone to be aware of the risks of abuse and know how to respond to warning signs. Although anyone can be a victim of abuse, some individuals are more vulnerable than others. If your work or volunteer activity involves children or vulnerable adults, it's essential to learn how to safeguard them from harm.
At our stand, we engaged staff with a questionnaire, answered their questions, and identified key areas of the Safeguarding Process. We explained what abuse means, identified factors that put people at high risk of abuse, and recognised key safeguarding principles for protecting individuals from harm. We will evaluate the anonymous questionnaire and identify areas of learning, providing staff with the correct answers.
The Ann Craft Trust runs National Adult Safeguarding week every year, raising awareness to people and organisations working together to prevent and stop abuse or neglect. At the same time, they ensure that the adult's well-being is promoted, including considering their views, wishes, feelings, and beliefs when deciding on any action."
