The DAPPLE project

Developing effective service models for adult palliative and end of life care for people with a learning disability (DAPPLE)

The Centre for Excellence is honoured to be part of an important study, the DAPPLE project, which began in September of this year. Funded by NIHR and led by Kingston University (Chief Investigator - Professor Irene Tuffrey-Wijne), the DAPPLE project aims to ensure people with learning disabilities have access to high quality palliative and end of life care.

This project has a number of work packages of which LOROS will be a case site for work package 3. This work package focuses on finding barriers, enablers and examples of good practice for the delivery of timely, appropriate, individualised and co-ordinated palliative and end of life care for people with learning disabilities. Our new Research Associate, Francesca Horne, will be working on this alongside Dr Zoebia Islam who is Site Lead and a Co-Investigator on the DAPPLE project.

As well as Kingston University, we are delighted to be working with our partners at the University of Leicester, and the Open University on this project.
