We are thrilled to welcome Jackie Newcombe to LOROS, as our new EDI Lead!
In her role, Jackie will support colleagues and volunteers to acquire the knowledge, tools and resources needed to ensure everything we do is truly inclusive. This is in all areas of the charity including patient services, shops, research and workforce activities. Inclusivity is about ensuring that LOROS both represents and reaches the diverse communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and supports every individual patient, customer, volunteer and colleague in the ways that they need personally.
Jackie joins LOROS from Leicestershire Police where she worked as a Police Officer for 19 years, before becoming a member of police staff, leaving as Head of Equality and Human Rights last year. She has been a LOROS Lottery player for a number of years and her father was previously a volunteer at LOROS.
Jackie’s first priority is to meet as many people as possible to learn more about EDI needs at LOROS and then finesse and share a strategy which will support LOROS to make EDI a part of everyone’s everyday role, objective and responsibility.
Jackie said: "This is a totally different environment for me and I am thrilled to be here at LOROS. Everyone I have met has made me very welcome – if we have not yet met, please drop in to say hello or feel free to email or call me if that is better for you- extension 8425."
You can find Jackie's office opposite the Linton Room in the main building.
