The Melton raised the money through an affinity savings account which gives savers an attractive rate of interest, while every year the society donates a percentage of the average daily account balances to LOROS.
LOROS provides free high quality care and support to terminally ill adult patients, their families and carers. Each year it needs to raise a minimum of £4.5m to continue providing its services free of charge to over 2,500 local patients.
LOROS fundraising manager Diane Morris said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous donation from The Melton Building Society and would like to thank them and their customers for their marvellous support.”
