A horticulturist from the area has won a fun competition run by county hospice charity after he literally grew £50 into £421 for the cause.
Over 100 ladies enjoyed the annual Stoney Stanton Women's Institute Strawberry and Wine evening, and raised £200 for the hospice.

On 2nd July, Vernon Ward, Jon Ruskin and Chris Lester set off on a 3 day, 294 mile, London to Paris Bike Ride and raised more than £6,000 for LOROS.
Ben, who is a technician apprentice at the Leicester branch of Alltruck, won employee of the month and chose to donate the £240 award to LOROS

The challenge is simple enough, each team were given £50 and tasked with ‘’growing’’ the money in any way they could over a 3 month period. 20 teams proved successful and together raised the incredible sum of £6000, which is equivalent to the cost of a LOROS Community Nurse Specialist being able to visit 65 terminally ill patients in their homes in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.
