Delegate - Having Conversations about Death and Dying
A one-day intermediate communication skills course fully funded for clinical staff across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland including: didactic, group work and small group interactive sessions delivered within a safe environment with the use of ‘Real Talk.’ It provides an opportunity to build on existing communication skills and behaviours relevant to caring for patients and their families with palliative and end of life care needs. This an ideal refresher for participants who have previously attended Advanced communication skills training
‘RealTalk’ is a novel approach to training aimed at enhancing healthcare communication. It is based upon real-life video and audio recordings of UK hospice care and bereavement support groups, and learning points based on communication science research using the Conversation Analysis method.
A multi professional programme designed to meet the needs of healthcare professionals with an interest in palliative and end of life care. It’s an opportunity to learn about the principles of palliative care, to help support people receiving a palliative care approach to have a better death regardless of setting.
Staff working in hospices in the UK can apply to the Wolfson Foundation (via Hospice UK) to cover part of the cost of this programme. See Hospice UK for more details.
The programme comprises of 4 x 1.5-hour virtual sessions run over two ½ days for care home staff both registered and non-registered from Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Participants will be required to attend both half day workshops on 15.9.22 & 29.9.22
A study day for Health Care Support Workers to improve knowledge of End of Life Care
This is an exciting opportunity for up to 10 residential/nursing homes across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to be part of a six-month programme offering fully funded personalised end of life care training to care home staff.
The next cohort commences in September 2022; Dates are 22nd September, 13th October, 10th November, 1st December 12th January 2023, 9th February. All workshops to be attended face to face at LOROS
